FIVE CLASSIC THRASH METAL ALBUMS (THAT AREN'T BY THE "BIG FOUR")

Even outside of the "Big Four" (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax), these spots fill very quickly, but here is a start.

1. Exodus - Bonded By Blood

A classic. Original gangsters. Listen up.

2. Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion

It's tempting to select Celtic Frost's previous debut record, "Morbid Tales", or to rewind even further to this camp's earlier band, Hellhammer. But there are two things that point in the direction of "To Mega Therion". One is the highly effective orchestral inclusions, which are downright scary. The other is the way that the band's aggression and inventiveness are so aptly captured on this record.

3. Voivod - Killing Technology

Beneath Voivod's often noisy surface exists a rich biosphere of influences and innovations. The sound is uniquely Voivod.  Few bands achieve this to the degree that this band has.Voivod have made many great recordings. The third album, "Killing Technology" is chosen here.

4. Kreator - Pleasure To Kill

Classic German thrash metal. A shining example of the so called "Teutonic" scene.
Studios in Germany must have been of very high quality, considering the stream of great sounding heavy records coming out at this time. "Pleasure To Kill" stands firmly among them.

5. Testament - The Legacy

Bay Area band of the highest order with exceptional musicianship and heavy sound on this recording. Again, keeping the words short here and just listening to this one!
